Battle of the Foundations 2
Hey everyone,
I have been on a hunt for the best foundations whether they be at the drugstore or stores like Ulta and Sephora. This week I have found three new (new to me) foundations that I will share with you. If you want swatched comment down below and I will leave those for you!
#1: Revlon PHOTOREADY- Airbrush Effect
Shade: 008 Golden Beige
Price: $11 @ RiteAid
Uses: I would use this if you have oily skin
The first thing about many foundations not just this one is the names of the shades. I feel like companies sometimes just can not get it right with the name of the foundation. You hear golden and think this will be perfect for me but in reality it makes you look like a GHOST! However they take back saying golden by putting beige at the end which will in turn make the shade lighter than a golden tone. Thie foundation oxidizes well on me and turns into a more natural looking shade by the time I am done highlighting my undereye (which is great). After contouring you can not tell that it was a shade or two lighter than my natural color.
The foundation is supposed to give you that airbrush feel look and when I think of airbrush I think matte and trust me it does just that. However that arbrush effect/matte look is not very flattering. I would not use this foundation in conjuction with other matte products because it will make you look chalky (unless your skin is very oily)!
#2: Revlon Colorstay
Shade: 360 Golden Caramel
Price: $13 @ Walmart
Uses: Combination/Oily Skin
This Revlon foundation actually stays all day like it says! It is not the fullest coverage ever however if you apply a concealer with it, you should be fine. It has a lightweight feel just like it says. The only downfall once again is the name of the shade. Words like golden and caramel lead me to think that it will be the perfect color for someone with yellow undertones such as myself. However it gives off a beige tone when applied to the face. Like I said before the committee who creates the names for these shades should be revamped. I rather foundations just have numbers so I dont get all excited by the shade name thinking this is the perfect one for me.
I am going to give this foundation a second try today so check out my experience with that on my MOTD blog post!
#3: Elf Foundation Serum
Shade: Medium
Price: $8 @ Target
Uses: Helps prevent sunburn
When I first bought this foundation I thought it could be used as more of a concealer and it can. It is very lightweight no coverage what so ever. It may even out your skin tone though. The only down side with this is the range of shades. They only have three (light, medium, and dark). What about the shades inbetween? I have not found one person who has matched one of those exactly. However I love ELF and know they will expand because they care about customer feedback.
